We are now half way through March, the Prostate Cancer Awareness Month here in the UK, and it’s time to start thinking about your health and putting yourself first. Join us as we strive to raise awareness and educate about this disease, and encourage everyone to take more of an active role in their health so that we stand a chance at beating cancer. We believe that this mindset is not only important throughout March, but every single day.
Fatality rate for Prostate Cancer at an all-time high
Alarming new statistics now show that the fatality rate for men suffering with prostate cancer is at an all-time high, with over 11,800 deaths every single year in the UK. For the first time ever, this figure is higher than the number of annual breast cancer fatalities, which currently sits at around 11,400. This worrying new information puts prostate cancer among the top 3 deadliest UK cancers, trailing just behind lung and bowel cancer. With the increase in life expectancy, the number of men dying from this male-only disease is also growing.
Support Prostate Cancer UK
Charities and organisations like Prostate Cancer UK rely on the public to support fundamental research and development so that we can hopefully start to see these figures decline . There is so much you can do to get involved! It’s not all negative though: from recent studies it is clear that men diagnosed with prostate cancer are actually likely to have a better outlook than ever before thanks to advances in treatment and diagnostics methods. Arquer Diagnostics promises to continue leading the way in innovative oncology diagnostics solutions, with exciting things to come very soon. In any case, taking an active role in your health could mean the difference between beating prostate cancer or otherwise. Know the symptoms and don’t ignore them!
